THYBORØN

These Photographs are made to explore the genius loci of Thyborøn which is a commercial fishing town on the West coast of Denmark. The town is situated at the terminal tip of a giant sandbank which divides the North Sea and Limfjorden. Thyborøn is dominated by the chimneys and physical bulk of the TripleNine factory which processes fish catches from the North and Baltic Seas and converts them into protein flakes. Since my first visit I have been intrigued by this outpost of people and industry that feels somehow at odds with the prevailing impression of urbane Denmark, and my naive romantic notions of life as a fisherman.
